Our client is a highly innovative international leading B2B SaaS FinTech company based in Berlin who are looking for a Director / VP of Product Engineering (SaaS, B2B, Digital Payments) to join their quickly growing Tech family. Management style is flat, the two founders respect everyone's input and are trying to create a true family environment. They have recently raised substantial additional investment from well known VCs and are planning to expand their reach significantly in 2022.

The incoming Director / VP of Product Engineering is responsible for product development and planning. This includes managing the development teams throughout the product lifecycle, gathering and prioritising requirements from the product manager, defining the product technical vision, and working closely with engineering to deliver winning products. It also includes working with both internal and external teams and stakeholders

This is a fundamental role to the continued success of the business and, as such, the incoming candidate will be able to make a significant and tangible impact on the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse product technical needs and make them into requirements
  • Work with internal teams, including developers, engineers, Q.A, and operations
  • Collaborate closely with the product manager in defining technical roadmaps and planning that align with product goals
  • Answer technical questions related to the product and its capabilities
  • Evaluate technical risks
  • Work with data pipelines, algorithms, and automated systems
  • Being an evangelist and subject matter expert to the community
  • Analyse metrics and data
  • Create success criteria for testing and product acceptance
  • Being at the forefront of the creation and maintenance of product technical documentation

Requirements:

  • Uncover and understand product needs and translate them into requirements
  • Ability to work well with internal teams, including developers, architects, quality assurance, and operations
  • Ensure requirements are fully understood and that implementation plans match expectations
  • Understand, research, and follow technical trends in the industry and in general
  • Follow competitors and conduct technical capability analysis
  • Provide internal presentations for the technical aspects of products
  • Answer incoming questions about the product and its capabilities
  • Assess and address technical risks
  • Understand and analyse data pipelines, algorithms, and automated systems
  • Serve as a product evangelist and subject matter expert to the technical/developer community
  • Coordinate testing
  • Define success criteria for testing and product acceptance
  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of proper product technical documentation
  • Work with CI/CD systems along with development ticketing
  • Oversee source control, pull requests, and release cycles
